Native American Indian Jewelry included many forms of beaded strands comprised of different types of beads, shells, bone, horn, gem stones and precious metals that signified not only the accomplishment of the Indian but his warrior status as well. Native American Indian beaded jewelry also had many other meanings depending on the tribe's beliefs.

Throughout history many different mediums were used as a form of payment. Wampum is a type of bead made from a purple and white shell that was considered to be very valuable. So valuable that the American Indians used it to trade for goods and supplies at the "Trading Post". Beaded necklaces were made by joining small pieces of bone that were hollowed along with natural stones, shells, buffalo and deer horns and other materials including silver ornaments on strings of leather or sinew. Often times these ornaments had spiritual meanings that were specific to certain aspects within the tribes. Beads were often strung with different colors in certain order representing different meanings like sky or water or fire.
